Life can be busy, so I appreciate you taking a moment to explore my work.

This selection of paintings includes some of my personal favourites. I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with you too.

Throughout my career as an architect—primarily designing public buildings and schools—I aimed to create spaces filled with light, colour, and a sense of openness. That same intention carries through into my art. These largely abstract works explore colour, form, and design, inviting your thoughts to wander freely.

We’re surrounded by shape, tone and colour every day. When these elements come together in art, they offer a quiet space to pause, reflect and return to whenever you need.

Inspiration

For me, inspiration begins with being deeply moved—so much so that it sparks a desire to respond creatively in my own way. Before I ever imagined calling myself an artist, certain others had already planted that seed.

Egon Schiele, the Austrian artist from the turn of the 20th century, continues to inspire me with the sheer power of his line. His depictions of the human form—expressive, precise, and often radical—are executed with a minimalist clarity that is unique.

I’m also drawn to the architectural elegance of his contemporaries: Josef Hoffmann (another Austrian); and Charles Rennie Mackintosh from Scotland. Their designs are deeply artistic, reflecting a sensitivity to form and detail that resonates with my own design background.

Among more recent artists, I greatly admire the work of Shar Coulson, whose abstract paintings evoke the natural world in unexpected ways; and Matthew Wong, a gifted Canadian artist whose life, like Schiele’s, was tragically brief. Their work reminds me of the emotional and imaginative reach that art can have—across time, place, and medium.

Buying My Work

All paintings are on stretched canvas, unframed unless stated otherwise. Commissions are on loose canvas for ease of posting. Art media for paintings are as indicated; including acrylic, pencil or mixed media which can include collage.

All paintings are varnished with clear satin finish. Matt or gloss finish is also available for commissioned work.

Commissioned Pet Portraits

Please see examples of the type of painting I can provide, compared to the likeness of the pet involved. These are not ‘hair for hair’ realism but rather paintings that show the character of your pet in a more loose and ‘expressionist’ style.

I can offer a range of sizes of single pet portraits with relative prices. These include the cost of materials and finishing (varnishing) but exclude stretch-framing and postage. Pet portraits are posted on loose canvas, ready for mounting.
